Suddenly stopped Syncing with Activesync

Hi All,

Could really use some help with syncing my Axim.

Firstly I`m running a AXIM X51v, with the Dell cradle via USB into a PC running Windows XP.
It`s synced fine for the last year, but I disconnected the cradle for a day and when I plugged it back into the same USB socket it refused to sync. I have noticed that the green light on the cradle no longer illuminates, and when I plug the Axim on to the cradle the PC does "bong" to indicate something has connected to it via a USB socket, but it will not go into activesync and update.
I`ve tried deleting the partnership, and upgrading to Activesync 4.5, but no luck.

Has anyone other got any suggestions?

Here's are a few things you can try:
1. Wiggle the PDA slightly. (Sometimes mine shows it's connected but A/S won't sync. A wiggle fixes the problem.)
2. Wiggle the USB connector (I've had this once or twice myself)
3. Connect to a different USB port.

The amber/green light shows charging. If it's not on it means the cradle isn't being powered from the A/C. This could also be causing your sync problem. It is possible the cradle is bad. I've had to replace mine once.

Mine did that and I had to sync a few times. My pc would start syncing and then just my ppc would active sync. third time they would sync together.

Couple months later they sync in unison on first try. Them axims keepyou guessing.

It's worth checking your firewall rules to make sure that ActiveSync is (still) a permitted application.

Check your PC manufacturer's website for firmware and BIOS updates (I had a similar issue with my DELL Dimension and a VOIP phone; fixed with an update)

Check to make sure that the USB socket is free from any dust or debris (preventing a connection)

You don't say if the USB port is a hub port; if so, change to a primary port.

Try soft resetting the Axim.
