Worried X51v dead after drop

Hi,

I dropped my Axim; faily lightly (30cm/1 ft, onto carpet) and after that, the screen only shows either thin vertical stripes in different colors, or just a few, wide, stripes. There is a error-code-cord heard. Tried hard reset, etc.

I would expect the Axim to survive such a fairly light drop, but it did not. Dell in Germany refuses to do a warranty job, and have sent me an offer, which almost exactly is the same as the original purchase price, some 9 months ago!

Is it possibly to diagnose a part to be replaced from the description above? Any other tips?

If it isn't under warranty then you could try taking it apart and see if a connector has come lose. You could also sent it to someone like ppctechs.com and see if it is fixable. Dell doesn't fix them and never has. They only replaced them.

What? Ive dropped my x50 3ft onto carpet, it was off, but it worked fine afterwards. Technology today is packed in so tight on the inside that nothing can move, and with few moving parts, nothing breaks.

Just for fun ive taken a cheap junk fm radio with ext speaker and batteries and dropped it onto concrete to see how long it would last, and youd be suprised how long it worked. Of course i was willing to sacrifice a radio that was worth probably only a few bucks in its used condition, and not my beloved axim.
