Hi all, haven't posted here in a while thank you for your help before.

My problem now is every time I put the axim in the usb cradle, suddenly I get a "Local Area Connection" icon in the taskbar and it starts trying to connect. ActivSync doesn't connect the ppc to the pc at all and when I get the dreaded "ActivSync can not connect would you like to troubleshoot" window, I also get a "this connection has limited or no connectivity. you might not be able to access some areas of network resources. This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer.

And this happens every time I connect the axim to the cradle now (I get the two little computer icons trying to connect to each other in the taskbar).

Perhaps you could try to connect the Axim to another computer and see what happens.

Do you have rom AO12, you can try start/ settings/ connections usb to PC, and uncheck the " enable advanced network functionality" box. Which should take your axim back to a basic usb connection. Do it while the axim is disconnected from the PC and if it won't take, you will have to delete any com ports you have set up, and once you get a connection reset up the com ports.

..i tried going into connections and but when i click on "usb to pc" the screen kinda flashes for a quick second but no programs open..

i'm wondering if i can just back up everything and do a hard reset.

I'd try a soft reset first. You could also reinstall AS on your PC.
