.WAV Audio recording won't play

I was recently in Prague and attended a string quartet concert in the beautiful St. Giles Cathedral. While there I thought I'd record a couple of the numbers they were playing. I first recorded one to my PDA internal memory and it seemed to work fine. Then, since I'd run out of memory, I decided to record a couple directly to my SD card, rather than the internal memory. It's seemed to work just fine. I wound up with 4 multi megabyte .wav files and I thought all was well. After I got home I tried to play them on my notebook computer using Media Player. The one I recorded to my PDA internal memory sounded just fine. The ones recorded directly to the SD card didn't fare so well. Media Player opens them, then there is a "Pop" as it starts and it won't play back. It just sits there... Anyone have any ideas as to the problem or is it some sort of issue with recording directly to the SD card... maybe too slow... doesn't close the files properly etc. etc. I'm stumped.
