I recently purchased my Axim on EBay, and so far I'm really underwhelmed by this gadget. If I had known how buggy and quirky it is, I would have gone with an iPaq or nice boring Toshiba.

One of the problems I have is that the wireless software does'nt always behave as it should. As far as I can tell this is the L2TP minicard. It does'nt always list available networks , and I have to do a soft reboot to get it to work.

Now, I can't get the damn thing to sync either, after working fine as soon as I installed 4.2. I'm running XP SP1. I can't run SP2, it makes my box go cuckoo.

Questions:
1) Can I go retro and install pocket PC 2003 on the axim? I'm really not that crazy about windows mobile 5.0 (5.1.195) and can understand why there are so many complaints about it.
2)Is there a way to update the wifi software? I have the WLAN utility by HTC 1.0.0.2.
3) If I throw this thing out the window and hit some pain in the ass innocent bystander, is my liability greater than hurling it at bill gates or michael dell?


I've gone to the dell website, and there's nothing for me to update, I'm really starting to regret buying this thing as all I really wanted was a PDA that did wifi well.

Wow... sorry to hear you are having so much trouble... I have an x51 and I really like it so far!
Sorry I can't answer the technical sides of your questions as I am still learning to use mine... hope you figure it out!
