Help! CF card unrecognized

Hi everyone,

I have 51v WM5, ROM A12.
I tried to use a CF card, but when I insert the card, I see the error sign, unrecognized card, to indicate the name of the driver. I did ActiveSync trick, still no fix.
I applied Colorado fix patch, CF Power Patch, tried reset, tried other CF cards (over 5 of them), still not recognized.

I see that unrecognized CF cards are seen among other mfr’s WM5 ppc.

Is there solution for this or driver/patch?

Thanks

It's 256mb Kingston CF. I tried other brands including Lexar and Sandisk. All unrecognized. I have been reading the old threads, and it seems WM5 OS is causing the problem, isn't it?

Well, Hard Reset is the last resort. Did the unit *ever* work with CF cards?

The Dell web site. Be sure and review all of the instructions listed there for this upgrade to your units ROM. In addition there is a great thread on this site with a step by step process you can follow. Do every step though or you can brick your unit.

SOLVED: I hard-reset, and it is recognizing CF. I restored using back-up file, then CF not recognized.

The hard reset process did fix this issue for some users but not for the vast majority. Only upgrading to ROM A12 (found on the Dell web site with instructions on this site to follow) fixed it for all parties. My unit acted identically like what you describe as happening to yours. The only fix that worked for me was to do a ROM upgrade to A12. After completing that upgrade I have not had an issue with my CF nor my SD cards not being recognized. Just make sure when doing the ROM upgrade (should you care to do it) you follow step by step the process listed on this site. There is a risk of 'bricking' you unit if the process is not followed correctly.
