Sad, sad day... This morning I cracked the LCD on my X51v. First sadness and total depression, shortly after followed by rage and cursing.. This is the only way I can describe my feelings and actions following what I saw on my screen after dropping it in my jeep, when it fell right on to the shifter knob. It is a spider web, and a very sad look what occupies my Axim's screen now.
It was on the windshield holder. I secured it there, but it was cold outside so it didn't hold well. It dropped the first time, I was able to catch it without any damage. After about 5-10 minutes it dropped again, this time taking the LCD with it.
I hope someone here has a bricked X51v who can sell it to me for a reasonable price, otherwise this one will go on ebay for the parts.
I don't think the whole LCD is broken, and there is no leak. I believe it is just the upper layer. Colors and picture is still intact.
I still cannot believe it. :( I am glad I held onto my X5 and didn't sell it. I can at least use it now. PS: I dropped my X5 many times, and it never broke, looks like X51v was way more fragile and not as sturdy.

OUCH! That hurts! I have never dropped my x51v, but imagine I would experience many of the same emotions you described in a similar situation. PPCTechs offer screen replacements, btw.
Thanks, warthog. Isn't there anyway only the upper layer can be replaced? I think my LCD is fine comparing to all other cracked LCDs I saw so far.. :( It may heal itself if I keep repeating this to myself.. :(
PPC Techs replacement costs too much for me to consider at this moment.

Sorry to hear that. I know that I would be sad and mad all at the same time. I know when I lost my x51v I was very upset at first. I even cried. And then I started cussing at myself and such for loosing it...
Good luck with fixing your screen. You may want to look into Pocket PC TEchs as the other poster mentioned. They have screen replacements.

Sounds like it might just be the digitizer, there is a thread around somewhere talking about replacing it with a cheap one from China or somewhere, I think.
From memory it only cost a few bucks, and a lot of fiddling.

By the pics you took, I'd guess it's just the digitizer, too. And if I were in your shoes, I would be inclined to check into the eBay repalcement part and give that a shot before I sold it for scrap. btw, if you do go that route, you may want to document your efforts and post a tutorial on how to replace a digitizer. That would be helpful to many, I'm sure.
For the Digitizer, I saw a few places selling it for $90, I wonder how good this guy's would be for only $10 bucks..

About a year ago I dropped my X51. It was in a leather case and when I opened the case I saw a small crack (less than 1/4") in length. I continued to used it but each day the crack got a little longer until finally the thing puked. I looked all over for screen without luck. I bit the dust and bought me a new X51 and put it in a Rhino Skin case. Haven't had a problem since.
