Can you install a different o/s like xp/xp pro. I have x51v moble 5.0

NO!!!!!!!!!!!! u can only install windows mobile on it and there is a newer version of it out now.

you cannot install anything which was not written for the arm based processor.

you can use something like vnc to display the screen of an xp pro or osx desktop etc...
