Question Anyone else lose the feet on their Axim???

I recently replaced the capacitor in my X51v, using Bill_Todd's excellent thread. However, I had lost the upper rubber feet on my unit before, and reattached them with Krazy Glue. In order to open the unit up, I had to destroy them in order to access the torx screws beneath. Has anyone been able to get replacement feet recently? I tried all of the suggestions in other threads in regards to this issue with no luck. In addition, there has been no activity on the subject for about 18 months or so. If anyone has a spare set they would be willing to part with, or can direct me to a site were I can purchase my own, I would most grateful.

Mine fell off a long time ago and I never bothered to try to replace them.

I was able to get replacement feet from Dell as a part of my warranty at that time. The replacement feet also came off after about the same amount of time the original ones did. I just left my unit feetless after that.

The feet fell off my Axim as well, and I too Krazy Glued them back on. Hopefully I don't have to replace anything internally anytime soon.

thats funny, mine both fell off in the last week. I am going to try rubber cement instead of crazy glue.

UPDATE: I work at an electronics plant, and I was able to get ahold of some black RTV, we use it as a sealant, but if applied correctly, it can be molded and used as replacement feet, I have discovered. Once it cures, it forms a durable, rubbery shape, and can be cut and formed if applied in a mold, or if you shaped and applied it in place, just clean the excess from the edges. An added benefit is that it is incredibly sticky, so it stays where you apply it. After curing, it behaves much as the original feet did. Hope this provides a useful starting point.

Rtv?

What's RTV (stands for three words, I'll bet...) and where do you get this stuff?

Jonathan

(Yup, my feet disappeared, too.)

Room Temperature Vulcanizing rubber. you can buy it at most hardware stores in a small tube. great stuff and been around for a long time. I have used it before to make feet, just put a glob on and leave it to set. then trim with a razorblade.

I wonder if there's a market for this product. I don't have axim feet either.
