Line on screen

I have an X51V which is about a year and a half old.
Despite much use it has never given any problems.
Recently, a white line has appeared on the screen, about 10% of the way from the top, and all the way from left to right... obviously a dead line of pixels, right?

I have a feeling that Dell will want loads for a new screen, so, I'm wondering what the possibility of a self-repair is? Is this a common fault?

Have you tried a hard reset before? There are several ways (people says) that could fix dead pixels (google)... better way is buy a new one, of course, but try before. Oh, I almost forgot, don't try to press the screen too hard expecting to fix the LCD because you might kill the touchscreen too...
