I am stuck also

This Flash Rom Update is being performed on a PC (Toshiba Tecra that is running Windows XP pro with SP2). I mention this, since I am known to use a Mac G5. I did not want this to confuse the issue at hand. Also, the Dell Axim X51v is not mine, it is a friend of mine (who owns the Toshiba Tecra). He is not a computer geek (neither am I - really, but I am more of one than he is).

I have read "banace"'s procedure over and over and over again. I am very aware of the risks and the complexity of the procedure. We went ahead with it in full knowledge that it may not work. We are at a point in the procedure that is SO CLOSE, that we think that there maybe something that has been done wrong.

Could someone help us through this FIX? Please.

I have done everything that "benace" has said to do on his "a06>a12 Step-by-Step".

I have gotten to the same screen as "applegd" got:
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...006/stuck1.jpg

The following steps are from "benace"'s procedure:

***YOU WILL NOT BE PROMPTED TO PRESS THE CONTACT BUTTON**
***DO NOT WORRY, JUST KEEP GOING!!!***
- wait for the Axim to boot up, Did this
- For the ActiveSync wizard, click Cancel (activesync should now say Guest) Did this
- Back in the Dell Axim System Update Utility: This is where the problem is
-- Click Continue The screen looks like the one above - There is NO Continue!
I am stuck here.

I had ActiveSync 4.5 before I started the Update. So, I removed it and installed 4.2. It gave me the above problem. I have done everything in the procedure, but I am stuck at this one point (A very pivotal point).

The Axim X51v is not finished with the update. It is in LIMBO.

Please help me.

I would download WM6 ROM to your SD card and flash your unit. That should clear up everything.

Is there a "Step-by-Step" procedure for doing this?

I need to be spoon fed.

There is a link to a youtube video that is a very good guide in the WM6 update sticky.

When you are doing this, are you leaving the pda in the dock througout the process? And I assume you are not trying to connect by BlueTooth? And it does in fact connect and you get Guest showing up in the AS window? You might try another hard reset but if that doesn't work you could always do the dirty deed to wm6. (it's awesome!)

BigDave240:

Yes, we are leaving the pda in the dock throughout the whole process.

No, we are not connecting via Bluetooth.

Yes, when the ActiveSync connects with the pda, we select Cancel, and it shows Guest.

I told him (the owner of the pda) that if this doesn't work, then we may have to move on to WM6. My only reservation is how to do it. I like the procedure that Benace provided, since it was a step-by-step process. I do not know enough to "wing it", so if this is the only option, I would need a little guidance from people who have done it (and done it correctly).

Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you for replying. I look forward to more help along the way.

I will look into the YouTube video. Thank you.

Well, I opted for WM6. I watched the video and did what he said and it worked. I cannot ask for anything more than that. Thank you for your guidance in this situation.

If I could have gone with WM5 A12, then I would have, but I was in Limbo, and that is not a place to be.
