When you do a hard reset, you should see a message on the screen asking you to press a button (calendar I think it is) to continue and that all data will be lost. I don't see that in your message. If you don't get the machine hard reset the update can't and won't continue. Once you get a hard reset, the machine will be like it was when new and you'll have to go through that startup nonsense before you re-sync. Again, unless you get a message telling you to hit the calendar button (one of the 4 silver buttons, not tapping the screen) and confirm will you have a hard reset. And, everything installed on the unit will be wiped out. Probably not a bad idea to remove all storage cards until you're finished with the update.

Thanks very much!
It seems your A6 to A12 upgrade experience is very different from the others'.
I take POST#2 in following thread as reference.
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/x50-x...step-step.html
And I see :
"-In the Dell Axim System Update Utility:
--Click Update ROM
--Click Next (it will take ~3 seconds for the button to enable)
--Verify Model, ROM, OS, Language and click Next
--Verify the AC Adapter is connected and click Continue
--**axim will blank out, disconnect, copy files, write image to device
--WAIT until the Axim screen says "Please perform a hard reset" (took about 30 seconds)
-Press and hold the power button (do not release until I tell you to)
-Immediately use the stylus insert to press the reset button (do not release until I tell you to)
-Hold both down for 3 seconds
-Release both
***YOU WILL NOT BE PROMPTED TO PRESS THE CONTACT BUTTON**
***DO NOT WORRY. JUST KEEP GOING!!!***
-Wait for the Axim to boot up
-For the ActiveSync wizard, click Cancel (activesync should now say Guest)
-Back in the Dell Axim System Update Utility:
--Click Continue
"
So ...I am still stuck at first Hard Reset...
