So...I posted a couple o' weeks back about how my axim was "on it's way out". I was getting the hard reset screen every time i swapped out my batteries, not a full hard reset mind you but it would bring me to the "press messaging to clear all memory or contacts to cancel screen, at which point i would press cancel and have to wait about a minute before the axim booted up from that screen. Now this whole time my backup battery indicator was reading 100% but i had a funny feeling it was lying. So thanks to advice gathered here from Aximsite and against my good conscience I decided to put the axim under the knife myself. I found the schematics for disassembling my ppc along with a online store that sells the plug-in type of backup battery for the x50v. THE SURGERY WAS A SUCCESS!! I can now swap my batteries out again without worrying about data loss (or my beloved axim just being dead, which i just couldn't bare)!! I know it's not really that hard of a part to replace, it's just opening and screwing around with such a delicate piece of electronics is a little hair raising. Well just wanted to let you all know how it went, and as long as you have 20 minutes and a fairly steady hand, you too can rehabilitate your ailing
axim.
Thanks to everyone who helped.
