X51V Device Not Detected by ActiveSync

Let me apologize in advance if this question has been answered in another post but I am unable to locate at this time. I have had an Axim X51V for about 1 year which I haven't used all that much. Up until yesterday, I haven't had a problem with the unit syncing up with my HP Laptop which I'm running Windows XP on. I've been having some difficulty with the SD Card being recognized so thought I would sync it up and try to reload the data I had stored on it. When I synced it up, I was advised of an error, I don't remember the exact wording. This may have been caused by my setting Outlook up with my email account instead of using the email service's website. At this point I thought a hard reboot would be in order with the problems I was having. After completing the hard reboot, I tried resyncing with Activesync 4.2. When I plugged the USB cable in, my laptop advised new hardware detected but the Activesync responded saying no partnerships. I uninstalled and reinstalled Activesync 4.2 and 4.5 several times but am unable to get the software to recognize the device even by using connections in Activesync. Could someone please assist in discovering why my laptop won't recognize this device. Also, I have tried setting the firewall up as described in help links and even gone as far as disabling the firewall trying to get the device to be recognized. Sorry for the length, thanks in advance for the help.
