Compact Flash Port

Does anyone know if this port is a 16 bitor 32 bit? I have an adapter that plugs into a CF slot that then allows a PCMCIA card access. However, most all devices I've found require 32 bit.

Thanks!

it should support either...

some things to note.

pcmcia cards need specific drivers for windows mobile devices

some cards use more than 500mA power (typically the max a ppc cf slot can provide

some cards will use different voltages than the 3.3v the cf slot will provide

...just some things to consider :)

I'd like to know about such an adapter... Specifically in case it will handle network devices such as ethernet cards, and external CD-ROM drives (I have one of those that's PCMCIA too).

again, pocket pc devices have to have the driver for whatever your plugging into them! i dont think a cd rom drive will work :)

if youre interested in such adapters for your device, just google "cf to pcmcia adapter" and you should find at least 2 or 3

I suspect the drive would, as it's a fairly generic bit of kit and I could probably find some drivers ;)

I also suspect it'd be good to get a nice wired 100Mbit network connection running :)

i really doubt youll find drivers for a cdrom drive... and i dont understand why you would want to attach a cdrom drive??

ive used ethernet cards with some older ipaqs ive owned. remember, your limited to the network stack built into whichever windows mobile flavor you have running on your device. so if its a gigabit network card, the bus speed of the device alone will cripple the high speed network card amongst other limitations of the pda hardware...

pdas are nice and all, but theyre not laptop replacements :)

Call me a freak, but I like working with weird hardware combinations. And CD-ROM drives would be good for those audio CDs that I haven't bothered to transfer to MP3 yet ;)
