Reminders freeze my x51v

Hello,

I have a rather bizare problem, everytime a reminer notification (from my Calendar) pops up my Axim x51v would freeze and unless I do a soft reset would not get back to normal. Sometimes if I am lucky it might go (although at this instance the machine is very slow) but most often I need to reset it.

Any idea why this happens? Jas anyone experienced anything similar and if yes, woudl you suggest a soloution?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
John

First make sure you are using the latest ROM for the x51v which is A12. You might also try what is suggested in this thread if you haven't already. Maybe some others will chime in here with some better ideas if neither of these work.

Welcome to Aximsite!!

Thanks for that!

I did the "fake" server procedure. I will post the improvement (fingers crossed:)).

My OS is WM6 (this was how I bought it from the auction site) so one can speculate that this might be the reason. I know that this OS is not to be discussed here this was why I did not mention it in the first place.

Cheers,
John

Is this a problem that just start recently or has it always done this. When you received your Axim & powered it on for the first time did you have to set the device up? Align the screen, set the clock? If not then the first thing I would have done is do a hard reset.

Do you have any calender apps installed over ride the normal calender? This could possibly cause the issue. A program like MemMaid, SKTools, or Pocket Mechanic might help. All of these offer a trial period.

The problem occured after I had had it for a week. When I bought it the touch screen was broken, thus I had to replace it. In a nutshell, I had to calibrate the screen and everything necessary after a hard reset. I regularly run PocketMechanic but it does not find anything wrong with the registry. I have the Resco Media suite (alhtough it does not contain any calendar). This is the only one that might interfere. I might try and uninstall it (I do not fancy the pain of re-installing everythign again though) but if this is the last resort, I would not have choice, would I?

Apart from that Axim x51v is a lovely machine. Due to its GPU it is still in my opinion (I also have a hx4700, its HP counterpart) the best PPC still to be found around.

Cheers,
John
