Changing sounds?

I need to change my sound files in my older Axim with WM5. I'm specifically talking about the screen tap and hardware button and other sounds that you can toggle, but not change. Is there any way to change these relatively easily?

I changed the sounds on my x50 by finding wav files and renaming them to the same exact name as the desired sound file in /windows. Placing my wav file there cancels out the one in the rom until i delete my file.

Now i have xp sounds on my x50.

Does that include files that are read only?

I know I replace a few sounds that were used in WA 2 this way, though I'm not sure if that was just replace those sounds in those directories....

On my x50, which is 2003se, system files are read only in the rom and your files such as docs and programs are in the ram. Putting your sound files in seems to overwrite the ones in the rom temporarily, until yours are deleted.

Whenever i hard reset my axim the default sounds come back, but when i put my backup in, i get my xp sounds.

Maybe someday ill write a tutorial for everybody.

Ah, thanks. I'll give it a try later. I wonder if it works this way for WM6, too?

It should.

But, the way that files are stored on mobile devices changed after 2003se. Since i dont own a wm5+ device, i cant test this hack on a newer os. B/c the new way of saving files in wm5+ may make this not work.
