Cannot use SD card memory over 1GB!

Every time I load an SD card up with more than 1GB of files, I cannot see it anymore. The Axim simply doesn't see it. If it's below the 1GB mark, it will display the card and the available space on it. This is maddening! I'm using WM6 from Football.

I see numerous posts that other people successfully using 8GB SDHC cards. What's wrong with my device?

First of all the Ax51v will not read SDHC cards without installation
of an additional driver you can download on Aximsite.
Standard SD cards up to 2 GB should be no problem as I have several
running on my 51v.
I don't believe neccessary but I first format the SD to 32 bit then
load up what I want on it and have not experienced any problems.
Possibly your card is defective or have you changed your 51v
rom?

The card works in the usb reader. I'm using WM6 from Football A06. That's why I'm confused A06 is supposed to be able to read SDHC.

Will it work with a standard 2 or 4gb card?
-B/c then you can see if the device can actually acknowledge over 1gb of memory, like it should.

Or is it just sdhc?
-Wm6 should be able to see sdhc to its full capacity, unless drivers got screwed up on the football wm6.

I can't get any card to work past the 1GB mark, even before the upgrade. I'm looking fro the drivers to try and reinstall them without having to reflash the entire device. Does anyone have a link to them?

I'm starting to get worried I have a hardware issue with the reader. I'll just have to buy a CF card under those circumstances I guess.

I have a standard SD 4gb card that works fine. It worked under WM5 A12 all the way up to and including WM6.1 Beta 2. I also have a 16gb SDHC card that works will all WM6 ROM installations I have done. Full memory access. My moto is you can never ever have to much memory! :approve:

I to have used a 4 GB regular SD card with WM 5 and now WM 6 with no problem at all. With WM 6 I have also used SDHC cards of different sizes with no issue at all. You might want to try a hard reset. If that fails you might want to try one of the new ROM's that have been so graciously put together by LennySH.

Looks like it might have been a problem of some sort with the cluster size on the card. I reformatted the cards with 32K clusters and everything works fine now. Weird, huh?

I recently bought a PnY 4 gig SDHC card, which my PDA wouldn't recognize at all. I found this cab file on another part of the forums that fixed it. I'm using an Axim x51v (windows mobile 5, A12 Rom) and it seems to work just fine.
