Internet Won't Work after Installing Active Sync

Hi. I'm having a very aggravating issue with my axim x51.
I connect to the internet using comcast cable. Whenever I install activesync 4.5 on my computer, I am able to sync my axim with no problems and everything is fine until I restart my computer. Once my computer is restarted I am no longer able to connect to the internet. I look under my network connections and everything is gone. The only way to correct the problem is to do system restore to a point before activesync was installed. Then my internet works fine but I am back to square one with not being able to sync my axim. Has anyone had this problem? I would appreciate any advice you might be able to give. I'm running Windows XP SP 2 Home Edition on my PC. I have tried posting in the Activesync forum already.

Sounds like a very odd situation.

Two things come to mind.

Disable the advanced network function on the Ax.

Try installing an older version of Active sync, back as far as 3.8 works with the x51.
Early 4. are pretty stable.

Hi. Thanks so much for writing. I used the disc that came with my Axim and installed Active Sync 4.1. The internet is working okay now when I restart but now I remember why I had originally upgraded to a newer version of Active Sync. After my first successful sync now it says my device is not connected. Would you have any suggestions for that? That happened in the past and the only way I could sync would be to uninstall and reinstall version 4.1. Thats why I tried to upgrade to a newer version of Active Sync. I am sorry to trouble you with all of my questions but I really appreciate your help. Thanks!
