X51v stuck on splash screen

I have been having intermittant issues with my axim turing itself off and not being able to be turned back for some hours. Todays i was having serious issues not being able to install programs. it would get to the point where it would ask me if i wanted to trust the install program, and i would click yes. Then before it could get to the point where i should have been asked where to install the program (device, CF or SD) it just sat there... doing nothing. I tried several apps and games trying to get something - ANYTHING - so install.

Nothign worked. So, in all my genius, i figured i would just do a hard reset and hopefully solve both issues. Well, i did this at 4pm today, just over 5 hours ago ... and since that time, all i see is the blue Dell splash screen.... and my blue-tooth light blinking ... all ... day... long :(

i cannot get the axim to do anything else.

help please

I am using the Dell Axim x51v with a 1 gig CF and 2 gig SD. I was using WM6 ....

First thing to try,

Remove the battery.
Remove both the SD and the CF cards.

Reinsert the battery and try to hard reset again, without the cards, and best if you have it connected to the power.

Box's suggestions are great, if you get no result from that procedure, you can reflash the wm6 rom or even better, search for the WM6.1 roms that are going around. They are much more stable than the ( I'm assuming) fooball AO3 RTM wm6 rom. Once you have a working version of any kind you may want to revert to WM5 which can still be downloaded at Dell. Although the WM6.1 I'm running now is really working well!

Well late last night i checked on my device, and it was very very warm. The device was still stuck on the splash screen, so i just removed the battery and let it all sit qietly to cool down. a couple hours later, everything was normal temp again, so i inserted the battery and hard reset again ... it worked fine. I was on WM6 and now on WM5 .. eww... The wm6 i had was an unoficial release from Dell a while ago, but will have to find it someplace else - i dont see it listed under my account there now.

I think your mistaken about any Dell release of WM6 at any revision level. The only places to look for any WM6 release for the X51V is on the internet. :approve:
