I think my Axim has a serious hardware problem. I am unable to turn on my WiFi, which used to connect automatically. Tapping on the wireless icon on the bottom right brings up the Dell WLAN utility as expected, but when I tap on the "turn on" button, the little timer icon appears for a few seconds, but the WiFi does not turn on. Multiple soft resets not helpful. Turning off power save mode does not help. On the site tab, the status continuously says "scanning network." Any ideas?
Hard reset is pretty drastic and, like Pedah said "last resort". Try a soft reset first. I've had to do that once in awhile with my WiFi. Also, I assume you're near a hot spot when you're trying to get to an Access Point? To me, scanning network would mean it's trying to locate an AP.

I suspect this may be similar to the problem that occurred on the X50 when it reported "Unrecognized Card."
In those situations, several third party applications have been implicated. At least some users have discovered it is caused by a lack of main memory when wireless is started. This would suggest Today plug-ins in particular could cause the error, since many of them are loaded at startup. Try starting the wireless immediately after a soft reset, before loading other programs. Users have indicated they can then start the other programs as long as the wireless is started first. If this doesn't work, you may need to uninstall any Today plugins (Journal Bar, Pocket Plus, PocketBreeze, Battery Pack, etc.).

Excellent point ikehiker. That's probably why I have to do a soft reset periodically. :approve:
