To replace screen or not?

I was working with my X51V today, left it for a while plugged in, when I came back to it, couldn't use the touch screen. All hardware keys still work. I double checked the hold button, soft reset, hard reset, everything, still no touch screen. So here's the question, I see on ebay where I can get a replacement screen for $11, will that do the trick, or is there a seperate digitizer that has to be replaced as well. Thanks.

There are two parts in the screen. The touchscreen and the LCD. Before buying anything I would check the connections. I replaced my touch screen some time ago. It is not hard, but you will have to have the right tools and read up on how to do it. I googled for the info.

I assume by hold button you mean the lock button?

Just to clarify, you found a screen for $11?

Perhaps it was the digitizer only. The other part is usually more expensive.

Honestly, if nothing funny happened to the unit, I would try taking the unit apart, then disconnect and reconnect all the screen-related cables.

However, I was thinking along the lines off that the guy said above about the lock button. Did you try toggling the lock switch 10 times or so? I can see why you call it a Hold button. That's what apple calls it on their Ipods.

Search this forum for info on how to open the axim, what tools to use, how to disconnect digitizer and LCD from motherboard, how to separate digitizer from LCD, etc.
I have seen and heard of much damage to axims by people who didn't know exactly how to do it.
If you've spent less than a few days searching on how to do it then you probably haven't learnt enough to give yourself a fair chance of doing the job successfully.
You might want to consider buying an X50v with a broken screen cheaply on ebay so you can practice without damaging your more expensive X51v.

Fixed :)

Not sure what the problem was, but I cracked it open and checked connections, didn't see anything that far off, but when I tested while taken apart and it was working. Luckily still worked after I put it all back together. Nothing makes you feel quite like an ubergeek than to dismantel something like this, and put it back together working. Thanks for all the ideas.
