New frequent unable to sync symptom

I have had my x51v for a couple of years now and of course during this period when I placed my Axim into the hotsynch cradel, I would occasionally get a popup ActivSync stating "ActivSync cannot connect to the Windows Mobile powered device. To troubleshoot the problem, click OK". I would then remove the axmin from the cradle and put it back on again and it would then work, or I may have to do a soft reset first.

In the past couple of weeks I started getting the problem every time I placed my axim into the cradle both at home and at work. Soft resets don't seem to work, nor removing/replacing the axim from the cradle. Of course I have tried using the MS troubleshooter but it was of no help. Usually after 4-5 soft resets I could usually finally establish a connection, but today I have not been able to both at home or at work. If anyone can help I would very much apprciate it.

It might be a bad USB cable. Sometimes they get get crimped or twisted and you end up losing the connection. Sometimes rebooting the Axim in the cradle can re-establish the connection. Sometimes re-booting the computer can fix the problem.

I got so fed up with connection problems through the cable that I bought a USB Bluetooth dongle for my desktop PC and connect to ActiveSync through a Bluetooth connection. It's nice because I can Sync with my desktop from anywhere in the house.

Can WM5 sync over Bluetooth?

I thought WM5 could NOT sync over any wireless protocol. I saw the connection choice in the drop-down list in that WM5 module but thought it referred to file browsing. I still use AS4.2.

I, too, am having a connection problem suddenly. Worked fine two days ago. No cable issue and wondering if a MS update was the issue. I have posted separately about the connection problem... I'll take answers there if that's OK.

I am also actively searching Aximsite.
