I have a mess on my hands

Hi!

I am running Vista on my laptop.

Prior to installing the disk for my Axim X51v, I had outlook 2007.

I installed the disk, now I have outlook 2003 instead of 2007. I can not find 2007 anywhere.....

The other problem that I am having is syncing.

For the first few days everything was going great. I was learning how to put my appointments in outlook (I had never had used it before) and was being successful uploading my contacts etc....

Now, everytime I try and sync, I get the message

windows\system32\act9ext.dll could not be installed or loaded.

I tried googling that message........ nothing came up.

I found a thread about a missing disk (mine now is) and followed the directions to the microsoft site and downloaded the 32 bit program, hoping that would fix it.......... it hasn't.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks!

When you installed from the disk there should have been a 'restore point' made by the system. I would look for that first. As a last resort you may have to do a complete system restore from your original disks and go from there.

The Outlook 2003 installed over your Outlook 2007. To get Outlook 2007 back, you'll need to reinstall it - do you have a way to do this? If not performing the system restore or a complete restore as rlarson_mn suggested may be your best bet.

You also need to install Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC)to a Vista machine to sync it with your pocket pc. The syncing software on the CD is probably ActiveSync. Uninstall ActiveSync.

Julie is correct - I have vista laptop (its been working great), but you need to use Windows Mobile Device Center -- not the CD. The CD has active sync and the option of installing outlook 2003, thats why this happend

The Same Thing Happened to Me

The Same thing happened to me Best Buy told me to buy 2007 and sometimes the computer still acts up. They said because 2003 wasn't compatible with 2003 so they told me to install 07 and I did and the computer still acts up. I am going to take it back to the store.

do the restore back to the point before you loaded the disk.
mark you disk " DO NOT USE WITH VISTA" or throw it away.
repair Outlook.

plug in your windows mobile device into Vista and it should find everything it needs to work automatically.

When I plugged in my x50 to a vista laptop, it took about 5 minutes and asked several questions, but then synced up perfectly. Only had to click the mouse a few times.
