Hi,

our Axim has a big problem since about an half year. He abrupt turns of and then cannot be started. No reset, nothing works, he is like dead (but the Batterie light is green). Then after a couple of time (last time after three months) he suddely turns on. Mostly only for a short time, then the same procedure.

I asked the Dell Support here in Germany. They offerd me to "repair" the Axim for 350€, this means they swap him.

But i think, that it couldn't be a big Problem because he works sometimes.

For me there are two possiblities:

a) a defective contact

b) a computer bug

Do someone knows a solution?

Check the battery door/cover lock switch,it will do similar
things if it's making intermittent contact.
There is a thread on site showing repair/replacement of switch.

You might try a hard reset to make sure the OS is not the issue. If its not then you should look to make sure you have the latest ROM updates for your unit.

thank's a lot for your answers!

The hard reset we tried, and the latest ROM update we have. So i thik also, that there migth be the problem with the battery lock.

I searched for the instructions to repair the battery lock, but cant't find it? Do you have the link?

I read also, that the "smalelr" battery for the date can be discharged, could this be another reason? The date mostly turns back to the delivery status when the Axim turns on.

Otherwise, go to the X51 Hardware forums and do a search for "battery latch". There are a lot of threads referring to this type of problem.
