You may need to charge it for several days. As the previous owner may not have charged it for a while. The main battery & the backup battery may be dead. But charging for a long time may bring them back. Also your charger you bought may be low amperage, in which it could take a while.

Well I would say I would be suspicious of the battery with regards to
long charge periods and the amber light staying on,you might try another
battery.
I would also try to go into diagnostic mode Power/Record/Reset
to see if that helps.

Possibly you can return the unit for a refund!

I tryed to Do the Diagnostic mode on it and it will only go the the restore part. then it would stay on for two minutes. then i try it again and it only stays on for 4 seconds so now i am thinking its a battery issue and i will get a new battery and try it out.
p.s. Forgot to say this product is refubished and non refundable.

bigtsr's advice is good.Try to get another battery. You have to trouble shoot to if it is the battery or the device.

I have three battery's that I cycle through for my X51V. I have had to replace my battery's after use of about 18 months. My unit is only on the charger to sync its data with my PC. I have a fresh battery waiting to be used, a second one in the charger being charged and the third one in my unit. I use a fourth battery thats a 2200 one when I am going to watch alot of movies during the day or when I will not be home for the entire day in case I need a battery switch out.

If you charge the battery over night & it doen't charge all the way then there is a problem. Try a new battery.

The Axim series takes a LOT of power to charge, particularly from a really dead battery. The Dell power supply is rated at 2A, or 2000mA. The standard USB port only provides 500 mA. If you wall charger is not rated at 2000mA for output, then it will struggle to charge a dead battery. Read the first couple of pages of this thread for some details of the power demands of the X50 and X51 series.
