Dell Axim X51 WM50 A12 ROM in RAR Format?
Does anyone know where I can get the Dell Axim WM50 Rev: A12 in a RAR format? I tried to upgrade my Axim X51 to Windows Mobile 6.0 using the SD method and it bricked my PDA I've tried multiple WM operating systems to get it to reboot, but no luck so far. I can still access the SD Boot Loader so if I can just find the RAR File with the .Nbo and .crc files in it, I can get my Axim back up and running I need the one for the Dell Axim X51 NOT the Dell Axim X51v

One forum told me to take apart the IMG file from Dell.com and take out the .nbo and .crc files, but that proves useless seeing how you can't access those files~! Any help would be greatly appreciated~! Thank you very much~!~!

Unfortunately, official Dell stock ROMS cannot be "dismantled". You can extract the .img file. But it would take extreme amount of work to reverse engineer the .img file and extract the .nb0. Also you still need to write a .crc file for that nb0.

With that said, best things you can do right now:
Complete a hard reset on the Axim (Power+reset hole). If it can Activesync, rerun the Dell installer (Drivers and Downloads)

In your question, you said "...Dell Axim WM50 Rev: A12...", I think you meant WM5?

Lastly, of course, if you Axim is still in warranty, just ask for a replacement/refund.

why dont you just flash the device with the factory rom? why are you "trying different operating systems"

as far as other roms or custom roms... theres no rom kitchen available for that device as of yet, so unless your pretty savvy with rom deconstruction, i would wait it out and follow this thread

Dell Axim X51v WM6 A03 (Football) Kitchen - xda-developers

jd, he cannot flash the factory ROM because his device is bricked. The factory ROM install uses Activesync, not the bootloader. If it's bricked, you can't connect.

Yes, LennySh is making a kitchen ROM right now.

Bricked
Yeah, my PDA is bricked and the only way I can flash the ROM is by SD Boatloader. The problem is, I have the Dell Revision A12 but it's an IMG format not an .nbo file or .crc file. I was told there's a way to load a IMG file throught the SD Boatloader but requires you to press a "SCROLL IN BUTTON" and there's no such thing as a "SCROLL" anything on the Dell Axim X51...

So pretty much I have to wait for Lenny to finish his "Kitchen" for the Axim X51?

P.S. Remembering that this is a Dell Axim X51 and not the X51v is a very important peice of information. I've tried some of the OS for the X51v with the same results of nothingness

Okay that theory is out the window...LOL That did absolutely nothing for my PDA and it won't even recognize the image file on the SD card. To think that for such a popular device someone has to at least have the .nbo and .crc files for it?

I'm sorry to say, but as you said in your first post, you tried to flash to WM6, there is no WM6 for an X51 at this time.
Generally, anywhere that you download a ROM from will specify that you must only use the ROM for your device, with an explicit warning that using the wrong ROM will brick your device,

A.) There was no warning about "bricking" your device. I didn't even know what "bricking" meant until after it wouldn't turn back on.
And B.) People who make this crap needs to specify that it doesn't work with the Axim X51. The one I ROM I tried to install was labeled Dell Axim X51/X51v which usually means either or make and model.

Please don't make either or crap because when it comes to technology, there's no such thing as "either or" it's specifically designed for one make and model and only one...not multiples.

It's always good to do a little research when trying something to do with technology.
The internet is not particularly renowned for it's accuracy.

I'm sorry you have had a problem and I wish I could give you a solution but.... I don't have one for you at the moment, perhaps someone else will.

I have checked that following thread. Although LennySh doesn't mention the name of the program he used to extract the .nbo file. Just the maker....some Mark Young guy or whatever...LOL~!
