Power Button non-responsive!!! Help!!!

My Dell Axim x51v is suddenly not responding. In the cradle, the battery is registering as fully charged, and the cradle appears to charge the battery with no problem. Even so, I cannot get the unit on whether in or out of the cradle. The Activesync is not responding either. Icon remains white and reads not connected.

No system changes to speak of. I even chose NOT to update my Windows XP to SP3, afraid of conflicts. I have attempted a soft and hard reset. I have removed the battery. I have removed the old Activesync and installed 4.5. I am unsure if the cradle is faulty or I have a major problem with the Axim. I love my Axim and would like to save it. I have back-ups of all files, so losing data will not matter. At this point, I cannot even get the power on.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

If the AX never turns on Active Sync has nothing to do with it. Have you checked the lock switch on the side of the AX?

If that doesn't wrok - try this: Hold the power button and press the reset button on the back at the same time..it will ask if you want to continue with the operation push the button to say yes.

Whoa! Jumping a little early to conclusions there...

Yes, check if the lock on the side is on or not.

Then, remove the battery. Put it back in, then press it again.

Lastly, try the Axim self diagnostic:
1. Press the record button and power button together
2. While holding the two, press the reset button
3. Then let go of the reset button
4. Wait for the diagnostic to come up
5. Follow the directions given.

I believe it came out in May. I installed it on my PC with no problems and AS works fine. Although, I've heard a few people had some issues. You may want to do a search for details. :)

It's not just 'unassigned' in the control panel by any chance?

Check setting/power/power button

I didn't know you could 'unassign' the power button. I don't see that on my x50. Must be an x51 option.

I guess must be a x51(v) option. But the assignment for the Power Button is when you turn it off. (The options are: no assignment, full off, and sleep). There is no assignment for turning it on.
