Jittery, corrupted display on X51v

Hi,

I have a problem with my trusty 3 years old X51v. Since a few weeks the display after turning on the unit the display is very jittery with vertical streaks ,lines and random colour changes. It gets better after some time, but never goes away entirely.
It is especially bad after turning on WIFI or BT. It happens while on battery AND with external power supply.

Is there anything to be done? Is it related to the backup capacitor issue (mine has been dead for some time), or is it simply old age?

Talking of which, is there any new device out there that offers the same or more then the X51v?

Thanks

Berthold

Not able to answer why screen gets that way; happened to me and went away. HP Ipaq 211 is similar and what I bought to replace my Axim x50v.

Do you mean the problem disappeared by itself, or did the X51v just go away ;-)

The IPAQ does not have IR port, which I badly need to download data from my Polar HR monitor :-(

Sounds like a hardware issue, maybe the screen cable is loose.

I ordered a new LCD on ebay and see whether that solves the problem. By now my screen stopped the jittering, but colours have faded and I get some vertical yellow streaks that come and go.

I Had this problem a few months back. I'm not sure why it hapend. Perhaps it got damp at some stage in the LCD casing and rusted.
Anyway i bought a replacement LCD+Digitizer off ebay and its sorted. Easy to replace.
