Can't perform hard reset

I'm having trouble performing a hard reset on my X51. It's been a while since my last one, and since then I've messed with the wireless drivers and encountered sync issues. I attempted to upload the A12 ROM (already had it installed, but figured this was the way to go about getting it reset), and it finished and asked me to perform a hard reset.

By holding the power down and hitting the reset button, I can get the prompt to come up to hit the contacts button to confirm, but it disappears before I can confirm (displays for about half a second), and the device does a soft reset.

My next idea was to leave the battery disconnected for a few hours. I tried 2, then 4, then 9, and still it retains its settings (guess my backup battery's doing it's job).

I'm stuck. I really need a hard reset, but I don't know how to get it to work. Help!

That's because of persistent memory, a feature of WM5 and later devices.

Have you tried installing a utility that allows you to do a hard reset via softare? Something like this:

Vijay555 - VJEschaton

BTW, I have no idea how good this utility is - just an example of one to use.

You could flash it with Lennies WM 6.1 & all your problems will be solved.

Gigi, I tried the program you posted, but it basically does the same thing. The confirmation screen displays too quickly and it performs a soft reset instead.

I wasn't aware that 6.1 worked on the X51, only the X51v.

It sounds like you only got half way through the upgrade that you performed. leave it connected to the pc that you were using to do the upgrade and do the upgrade again. that short 'hard reset' fooled a lot of people into thinking that the upgrade was done when it was not.

That was it. I did the initial hard reset, but didn't leave it on the cradle to continue the update. Once I performed the second hard reset, everything worked great. Thanks!

Sorry, is that a question?

It looks like a way to get the link in their signature seen.

Just another subtle spammer.

Believe that would require installing a spanish ROM but that isn't the topic of this thread anyway.
