I seem to have bricked my x51v by interrupting the Restore process. Now I do not even have Backup/Restore as a function to choose. I have my recent backup on SD card so that will be allright (I hope!).

Were you using the built in back up utility or a 3rd party back up program?
If it was a 3rd party application you would need to reinstall it before you could restore. But that is beside the point I guess.
Is the hard reset starting properly, Do you have to set up the device again, align screen, copy and paste etc?
Do you know which ROM version you have, if it's less then A12 you can use the A12 update via active sync to restore the system.
You will find instructions on how to do that in this thread.
Or you could try using the boot loader which you will find here.
Sadly system Information is one of the pieces missing from Start-Setting-System after the bricking!
A miracle may have occured - I started to copy backup from the SD card to the device with my PC in explorer from ActiveSync. It is big so I aborted it. Anyway, now a shell of it is on the device. I tapepd on that and it responded that this was not possible but it took me to the restore screen asking if I wanted to restore from the SD card backup. I have kicked off the restore - it is at 0% still but I'll leave it running.
Thanks for having jumped on the topic with help. More to follow from me later.....
WOW a miracle has occured! The process in my previous reply worked and I have a fully working x51v! I also now can check my System Info - I am on A12 ROM (06200600).
Morals of this story:
1) Never interrupt RESTORE
2) Keep regular BACKUPs (I had a recent one from 15 Sept! Not sure have anything much missing so I am golden)
since I have your ear! I seem to not have any partnerships for activesync now so while I can explore files I cannot synch. Under the file menu on the PC side of activesync, Mobile Device is greyed out. The only menu option that show on the axim is status - all else is greyed out.
First thing to try,
Start/settings/connection/USB to PC
Untick the box for "Use Advanced Network Functionality"or words to that effect.
soft reset your Ax, reboot you PC and try again.
If that doesn't work,
Unistall Active sync, re boot the computer and reinstall it. You can try an older version, sometimes they work better, anything above 4.0 will work with X51v.
Another option,
Hard reset the Ax again and see if you get a partnership before you do your restore. It might be a program that you have installed that is causing the problem.
The Following User Says Thank You to Box For This Useful Post:
Box - well this is all very strange. I did check the box for "Use Advanced Network Functionality"or words to that effect. it was not ticked, so I ticked it then unticked it and did a soft reset. Looking on the Axim the menu choices were back! Today (on reboot) the device has connected and synchronised (some duplication but oh well) - I did have to delete an existing partnership and create a new one - but was prompted through the qwizard for that.
