Boot loader angst

Major worry here. I have a 51v on which I loaded DiAd_k_Aximx51v_WM61_L11 NBO file and the same named CRC file. Everything great and its a pleasure to play on BUT my son who has a month old 51v visited who liked the WM6 option so I flashed his axim with the same version. All went well until the hard reset part which didnt work so after a bit of researching I find that his bootloader (A05) will not work with this version by Lennysh and is the most likely problem. Now im totally confused as to if there is a former WM5 version (already tried the A03 one but the loader does not find it)so to undo my stupidity can someone help out please. Im somewhat of a newbie with the axim and Im lost with all of the A03 etc etc. Need very basic instruction if this is possible as to which version will work with this bootloader. Thanks and hoping

Ok I have sorted this one after extensive reading thanks to johnhu_2005 on the mobility site:

He has posted the axim51 rom that is needed to get back to square one after trying to install WM6 with the wrong bootloader..Im really indebted to this poster and the rom is here:

So, I'm assuming you tried to flash Lenny's L11 ROM. When you say it didn't work, what exactly was the problem?

After reading this, what's the final state of the x51v right now?

Cheers johnhu_2005 I owe you big time your post on this subject was like a beacon in the wilderness. Right firstly yes the X51 is back in business with the flash rom you provided. The problem was that originally I flashed Lennys L11 rom onto MY own X51v axim and there was not a problem with that at all it worked ok and still does like a dream. My son who has a X51 (which is only a month old) bought a 16gb sdhc card and the WM5 would not recognise it but knowing that the WM6 of lenny`s did I assumed that because the rom flash worked on my axim then it would work on his so I flashed the rom onto his X51(not v) and it read/wrote ok but would not boot after the hard reset. It was then that I read somewhere about the bootloader havong to be A10 or similar for the L11. The bootloader on my sons is the A05 loader so this must be the problem of not booting after the flash. My OWN X51v must have had the A10 bootloader so was ok but I didnt actually notice at the time as I didnt know about it originally when I flashed L11 to mine. Anyhow all is now well but I look like ending up with the new SDHC card..:) Hope all of that makes sense but I am sure learning real quick about axim`s....Thanks again for helping.
PS I did try loads of different roms to get the axim back to life but they did not work. The A12 of yours was the original version on the X51 when he bought it but yours was the only post I found on this version after two days of searching.

Of course, glad to be of help. That ROM conversion was meant for another person that needed help. But then again, I'm glad it helped you. :)

It's not the bootloader that was the problem. Lenny's L11 ROM only works on X51V Axims, NOT X51 Axims - the two are quite different in terms of internal hardware.

But he did flash L11 (An x51v ROM) for his x51v...
Yes, there was a lot of typos. But he has a Axim x51v and he meant that.

yeah but his son's is not a v. thats why it didn't work, not the bootloader.

It may seem insignificant but that little letter v make a big difference.
