Hard reset question

If I do a hard reset what will I lose? Will I lose the programs that I have installed (TCPMP,SDHC, and the like)? The reason I ask is that ActiveSync has stopped working and I have tried nearly everything except a hard reset to get it working again. I have also read that the backup software on the Ax isn't that reliable. Thanks in advance for ya'alls help!:approve:

Rob a hard reset takes the ax back to factory/just flashed rom settings. So if you don't have a backup to restore from, you will have to re install, and register all of your applications!

I use the built in back up software on my x50, and it has always worked numerous times.
The biggest problem with the built in software is that isnt as good with taking backups to different devices with different oses. This is where people buy commercial software. Commercial softwares also have more options.
But, if you are using the backup on the same device, the built in software is just fine.

When you hard reset it will make your pda the way it was when you first got it. No programs settings, etc. Memory cards will NOT be erased, but your pdas memory will be.
Just make a backup, test your pda after the hard reset to see if the problem is still there.

The backup application that comes with the X51V DOES NOT WORK. Do not depend upon it at all for data restoration nor for OS restoration. I use Spb Backup which will do both functions and works correctly. :approve:

Hopefully, you've gone thru all possibilities with AS before doing a hard reset.

You may want to search thru the AS threads to make sure you've exhausted all the fixes. :exc:

I can put my ax in the cradle and it shows that it is trying to connect. Yet on the ax Active Sync doesn't start and when I try to start it manually it comes back after a few minutes unable to sync.Tried the soft reset, the welcome screen idea and also looked at it on my computer under the network connections, it show good packet transfer but that's as far as it goes. Oh and I have had it plugged into just about every one of my USB ports also. I'm still learning but this don't make any sense.

Also delete the partnership but this will remove all your contacts, email, tasks, & calender appointments. It may be the only way. If you do a hard rest it will all be gone unless you do a backup.

Have you tried disabling all firewall software, connecting and then restarting the firewall with the Ax connnected? If you took the M$ update to your system, it may have changed the firewall settings, blocking the Ax. You'll see handshaking packets, but no connection will be established.

Open Activesync on your device & go to option in the menu. Highlight the partnership & delete it.
