X51V new battery, keeps data, loses date

Please help understand.

Got a new battery from ebay. Worked fine for a few weeks. Now date keeps resetting to 2005 when I turn it back on, even though battery is still charged and the battery was not removed.

Thx

Your capacitor is probably out. Holds the charge while battery is removed. When that goes time reverts to default settings. Something like that anyway.

Heard there difficult to change but don't know.

The software solution for this hardware issue is an application named 'MikelSpikel BatteryReplace' This application once activated prior to a battery switch out will save the current time and date in ROM. After the battery switch and reset the date and time will be correct as long as the battery switch out takes place within a minute of the application activation. There is a thread on this issue and resulting application on this site. I have a X51V with the capacitor problem and the application works with out any issues with WM5 or WM6 or WM6.1 OSs. :approve:

I can't get the file to laod unto my PDA. I believe I am not doing the winzip portion correctly. I extract to a folder on my PC, then I copy to my PDA, but the PDA does not recognize the file. Please help.

You may be trying to extract too far.

Double click the File called MikelSpikel BatteryReplace.zip

This will open and show you a file called MikelSpikel BatteryReplace.cab
Extract this file to anywhere, Desktop if you want.
Copy that file to your Axim, either via an SD card or Active sync.

Find the file on your Axim in File Explorer. Tap it and it will install.

Note, if you see 4 files, setup.xml, BATTER, DATEBA, DATERE etc...you have extracted too far.
