dell WLAN card built in or what do I use????

Hey yall,
I finally bought a router, a new belkin g wirelss, according to the online belkin setup pages my aximx51v IS connected, according to the axim I am connected, but IE is NOT connected unless the axim is in its cradle or i use the IR. I know the router is ok because it works fine with this dell laptop with xP.
and when i was around a wifi spot, it worked fine, my wireless connection to the net using the dell WLAN. and even when the axim says "connected" it aint. am going crazzier.
In the axim there is a whole list of at least 6 network cards, including the one called dell wlan, which i assumed is hardwired in????
so is there a driver, setting, conflict i need to know about, please?
i configured all to no security, all the correct info that belkin supplies live online, it even shows that the signal strength is super! now that is frustrating.
hep me please!!!!
thanks, rob
ps I DID a hard reset, ran the axim cd, the belkin router cd, the windows xp cd.....

Make sure the router is set to Mixed Mode, b and g.
The axim is only able to connect to B.

I assume you have looked at Ikehikers wifi guide.

Follow what Box said.

Also, are you saying with no security settings in the router you're connected but can't access the WEB with IE?

Yes, no security, i even spoke to belkin and verizon, my ISP. b and g are both shown.
My axim shows best signal strength connected.
AXIM still not connected online thru new router: the belkin webpage says connected.
IE still only online when cradled.
I can only send files by IR or cradle.
any troubleshooting tool or guide I can read? I've been trying to connect for a couple weeks using instructions, help, etc.
so it seems to show everything is set up but no iE
No, I haven't seen above referenced guide but will search for it.
Is there a conflict between the router to xp and router to axim x51v?
any thoughts welcome, please1

I am running my primary computer, a dell800 laptop with xp, with dsl thru verizon's modem then belkin's router. as far as a i know the internet connection for thelaptop comes thru the verizon ethernet cable.
then i want the router to handle the internet for my axim only. the verizon dsl modem works fine, and did before i added the router per instructions.
I've been using the builtin? dell wlan card, right for the x51v? odd, sometimes it says the driver is not loaded, usually it shows all good including pinging and signal strength, i'm only 8 feet from the router.

Your last paragraph sounds like you do not have the router set up properly. The router should be connected to the dsl modem and be supplying the web connection for both the PC and the Axim.

It's typically slower than a PC, especially one 'hardwired' to the net but this is affected by the amount of free memory so if you have a lot installed on your Axim, you might consider moving some things (files and/or programs) to a memory card.
