AS4.5/XP Home says its Syncing but really isn't

I've begun to have an issue that I can't seem to figure out. Neither of my x51v's will Sync with my desktop using AS4.5 on a Win XP Home system. It's been quite awhile since I've even tried to do this but I recently had to hard reset one of my units and when I plugged it in to resync everything, it just sits there.

AS will initiate and recognize the unit. I did do a re-establishment with teh sync wizard after the Hard reset of the one. But after it recognizes the unit, it says Syncing, but nothing actually syncs. I see the arrows circling on the PDA, I see them doing it on AS but nothing actually syncs. No contacts, no calender, nothing. I'm still using Outlook 2003 and the last time I actually used it, everything worked. The strange thing is it also is not syncing with the other x51v that wasn't reset so I'm pretty certain it's not the PDA.

Any ideas? I'm about to uninstall and reinstall 4.5 to see if that will work. If not what else should I look for.

Thanks

Here are a few things to try:

1. Delete existing partnerships by going to File - Delete Partnership in ActiveSync when your device is NOT connected. Try resyncing.

2. Disable any firewalls/antivirus.

3. Make sure you are not using any USB hubs.

4. Uninstall and reinstall Activesync.

5. Go to your Sync Options tab in ActiveSync, and uncheck all but one thing to sync. See if that works; if not, try a different one, etc. I find Tasks generally causes me the most problems and that is the one I will uncheck first. Also check the Schedule and Rules tabs while you're there to see if all the settings make sense.

Thanks

I actually just uninstalled and reinstalled AS and it seems to have solved the problem for the most part. I managed to get my calender and contacts resynced and my other programs reinstalled without any problems after the reinstall. I just thought it was strange that even the axim that wasn't hard reset also wouldn't sync.

I don't really sync my pda's often since they really don't change much.

Thanks again for the tips. Next time I'll run those through

I have always just done a soft reset to my unit along with a reboot of the computer. Works every time for me. :approve:
