X51v Sync drops after a couple minutes

Greetings all,

My X51v will initially sync with my machine fine. But after about 5 minutes or so, it disconnects from my PC. I'm using Vista with Windows Mobile Device Center. The Axim has been flashed to WM6.1. I just noticed this problem last night.

I have an XP machine at work that the last time I synced it to that, worked fine.

Anyone else have this issue? I've tried a soft reset, rebooting, etc. No luck.

Could use some help here!

Thanks.

I *might* have found the cause of the problem. I just purchased a CF card and started using it yesterday as well. The sync dropping occured when I was moving music to the CF card. I took it out this morning, synced it up, and so far so good.

Anyone know why moving content to a CF card might cause a sync to drop?

First, welcome to Mobilitysite. Lots of good info & ppl here. :)

Your problem may have been caused by trying to do two functions at the same time. This happens on mine if I try to copy files that are very large. Especially video files. If you have a card reader, try copying the music files from the PC directly to the CF card, then plug the card into your AX. :exc:

Thanks for the welcome! Looks like a great forum.

Yes, I did exactly what you suggested. Pulled out the card reader and am copying files using it (must faster, btw!).

Thanks for your help.

Glad it helped. :approve:

And, yes, using a card reader has always been faster. :)
