Urgent question about Input voltage

Hi,
I'm about to leave on holiday tomorrow,
and am looking to buy a USB backup battery charger (to connect to my cradle, so i have power when there is no AC/DC around)

Question is: The charger states as output power 5.4 and 5.6V (depends on different sites)

So if it is 5.6V, will this harm my machine? The cradle states as input power: 5.4V

Hoping for a swift reply
Kind regards
w

First - Welcome to Mobilitysite. Lots of good info and ppl here. :)

Second - The voltage is O.K. But, it depends on the current too. The AC adapter with the cradle is about 2,400mA. Read this link to give you the best information: USB sync/charge cable warning :exc:

Yes, that should work well.

I do have a question now. When you stated a USB backup battery charger, are you assuming you'll plug the USB cable from the cradle to that backup battery? IF so, to my knowledge, that will not charge the AX. I may be wrong and JakeRich may know for sure.

OK, for clarity, if the charger (whatever the name) has the right barrel connector and can plug into the back of the cradle, and if it provides the voltage/current as stated, it will charge the unit. And it will let you use the Ax while it charges. However, if the plan is to use the Dell USB cable from the cradle to this charger, not the barrel connector, then it will charge the Ax, but you cannot use it at the same time. It's one or the other.

Very interesting. I always thought the cradle USB was wired for signal only.

- Thanks JakeRich.
