Axim won't Hard reset after rom upgrade.

I updated the rom to lennys edition on my Axim X51v. It says on screen that the rom was loaded successfully and to do a hard reset. I try to hard reset but the axim just turns off and dies. I have no problem getting up the bootloader screen and to flash roms but i can't get the axim to switch on. I've tried flashing with the original Dell A12 rom with the same results. Is there any way i can fix this? I fear my axim might be dead. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

That's one of the fears of flashing.
There's not a lot you can do.

What happens when you attempt to press the Power Button?
Try to flash back to Dell's A06. It is in my Rapidshare folder here.

When i press the Power button nothing happens, i'll try the A06 rom but i've tried loads of different roms now with no result. What exactly would cause the axim not to start? Is it dead in your opinion?

Let's try to rule out all other options.
So, nothing happens when you press the Power button.

1. Obviously, check the lock switch (You would be surprised to see how many people forget that!)
2. Remove and reinsert the battery
3. Press the reset hole
4. Press HARD on the battery cover and press the Power button (Could be a stupid battery error)

Basically, what happened was the bootloader somehow, to put it bluntly, crapped up. If you can find a x51v bootloader, you would probably be good. I do not believe to have a x51v bootloader in my files, offline or online. I will have to check with the all awesome LennySh to see if he has something for you.

I cannot give a straight-out answer to say if it is dead or not. From my experience, I'm 80% sure it's totally dead. Seems kinda strange it killed itself on a Lenny flash. Those don't tend to happen offen.

I see you posted at Lenny's forum. Maybe you can receive some additional help there. But your best option is to contact Lenny and see if he can help you.

Lack of power or the wrong file are the two main culprits.

Make sure you have it connected to the cradle or cable when you do the hard reset.

And check that you have used the correct files for your device. The device name is usually in the file name.

I actually managed to find a different boot loader and installed it onto the axim. the new boot
loader is A10_G3, the previous one was A05 but unfortunately i'm still getting the same results with the new boot loader.

Mickopla, can post the link for the bootloader? I will probably need it for the future, to help other people.

I am currently out of ideas. Need some sleep for new ideas.

I feel like an idiot because i checked the text and its actually a x51 i have not a x51v. I always thought i had the x51v as i originally ordered that model from Dell. There are not many Roms for the x51 and the only one i could download was an Alpha version which did boot up and my Axim is working again :approve: Thanks John for guiding me and ultimately helping me fix my X51 :) I'm not allowed post links to websites yet but ill try and get you the link to the bootloader in a different way.

Box, please remind me we are all humans... I remember doing this during my 9th or 10th time flashing. I didn't really look at the ROM for some stupid reason. Flashed it and bricked it. But I figured out what happened and fixed it.

Lesson learned from this: Also look at your Axim's model!
