My husband and I both have an x51v. His started draining the battery fast, even when it's not turned on. We traded batteries to see if that was the problem, no luck there, my battery was drained fast in his with no problems from his battery in my axim. There are no programs turned on in his, wifi is off, bluetooth is off. I did a hard reset on his, updated the rom from the dell site, nothing works. Is this fixable or is his axim now unusable without being plugged in?
I already tried the fake server trick...no luck. Right now, it's got nothing installed...just the default factory settings. The SD and CF cards are out.
While the unit is plugged in run a task manager to see exactly what is running in the background. Perhaps the record button or something is stuck on. task manager 3.1/
I downloaded and installed task manager. Here is what is running: bttray.exe, connmgr.exe, device.exe, fexplore.exe, filesys.exe, gwes. exe, nk.exe, pmsnserver.exe, poutlook.exe, repllog.exe, services.exe, shell32. exe, srvtrust.exe, taskmgr.exe, tmail.exe, wirelessicon.exe
You probably mentioned this but did you go into setting running programs end programs. Also blinking green light is off. You mentioned that. One other thing when charging are you charging via an ac plugin? Usually allows longer battery life. Also go into power settings maybe you will find something there.
Tmail.exe is not set up to retrieve emails. I just lost 5% charge in 2 minutes :\ No green light blinking, brightness set to dim, I charge via AC adapter, not set to pick up beams, no connections running, no wifi, no bluetooth. This is looking like a lost cause :(
hey, i have the same problem as you. while my axim is 3 years old, i figured this might be a battery-related issue as i have never used another battery other than the stock battery. so when i get my new battery we will test and will let you know in this thread.
the problem is when wifi is turned on the battery drains crazy like you had mentioned above. i find with bluetooth turned on instead, battery life is not drained nearly as much (been using this as an alternative since i noticed the issue).
with the above-mentioned fake server exchange hack, i have never had to do this at all. i do use a real exchange server host and it syncs fine. when syncing with bluetooth, battery is good. when with wifi, battery drains. what battery does the problematic x51v use?
i can confirm that the battery is more likely the issue. i just got my new battery and when wireless was turned on (battery was at 100%) it only drained to about 97% after 15 minutes. this is awesome compared to my old stock battery, where it would drain from 100% to 70% in less than 5 minutes.
another example is playing TCPMP. i walk to work in the mornings, and with the stock battery, it would drain a few down (from 100% to lets say 95%, and my work is a 5min walk from home). this morning, new battery was at 100% and when i got to work, it was still at 100%.
