Screen problem

My 3 year X51v has developed a screen problem - I don't think the LCD is cracked as it happened while I was using it! The screen works but only displays correct colours in odd spots and shimmers on the edges of the colour changes.

Any ideas?

First - Welcome to Mobilitysite. Lots of good info and ppl here.

Second - Take a business card and carefully slide it under the edges to make sure no dirt has gotten in there. If you have a screen protector on, take it off to do this. Next, try a soft rest. Then, after a full backup try doing a hard reset. A hard reset is very drastic and should be a last resort. :exc:

Tried everything but the Hard Reset. No joy. I might have a go at the hard reset later on - it works and is usable at the moment - but not for watching video as it just looks awful.

Have you installed any new software recently, sometimes a program can mess things up.
If you have try uninstalling it and a soft reset. You never know.

You could try running the diagnostics. They're built-in and you get there with the Power/RECORD/Reset buttons and follow the on-screen instructions.

It may or may not help, but, when you don't have other options it's worth a try.

Update - I believe the diagnostics are on the CD that came with your AX. There should be instructions in your manual.

I've been told the effect I'm seeing is "Solarization" and has two causes software and Hardware! Anyway I'll do a hard reset at the weekend and maybe even flash the ROM again to see if it's a software problem!

Now that's a new one on me.

I'll be curious to see if the hard reset fixes the problem. :)
