for weeks I tinker around with my Axim 51v.
because it constantly crashes after a few Minutes.
He never falls down.
Active sync solution not helps, other ROM than the original doesn´t help,
Win mobile 5 or 6 alone runs stable, but if i install a programm the bullshit began.
No Programm runs longer than 10 Minutes.
Now i found out, if i compress or twisting moderate the housing, he falls.
How can i test the Flash Rom that i have also in strong suspicion?
I know about Insanely Mac on PC Boards...and from now about the Insanely Axim with Flash slack joint
Greets from the sunny sunday lower saxony, Germany
From what I understand:
Your Axim repeatedly crashes. If you compress/twist the "housing" (The shell of your Axim), it fails.
My suggestion is to run the internal diagnostics:
1. Press and hold Power button and Record button (On the side) together
2. While holding the two, tap the reset hole
3. When a screen pops up, release the Power and Record button
4. Follow all directions given.

>>Huh? I'm kind of confused...<<<
It doesn´t matter ;-)

Yes, you are absolutely rhight. It seems so, but I am not absolutely shure.
The 100. self diagnostic test is without errors, only Flash Memory shows a green 0
Today i disassemble the Axim completely (w**.bilderkiste.org/show/original/5b69b7bedde606794c0ee0c8b651d877/Axim1.jpg) and look with an magnifying glass on every circuit soldering point, because of cold soldering point. Then i clean the connectors and others put a little TESA clear tape between the metal housing of the LCD and CPU shield plate and re assemble all. Thats what i can do. Now i run Lenny sh Rom 12. It seems its more stable as Win Mob 5. Without Programs the system software runs ok. But for example I can provoke the crash with scrolling in the File explorer fast up and down.
My question ..... is this a hard or software failure.
Pocket RTA crashes after 3 Minutes
TomTom 6 crashes after 5 Minutes
Path away crashes also after 5 Minutes
I have try so many of possibilitys, but I dont understand this "shitty error"

That works too. I still believe in my Axim because it hasn't majorly broken on me yet.

Check for missing components. I dropped my X50v a few weeks ago and I thought it was fine until it started crashing/locking up/making static noises when shaken. I took it apart and found that one of the surface mount capacitors had fallen off of the board and was rattling around, shorting out things. I removed it from the case and it no longer has problems. Luckily, the Axim functions without the part that broke on mine, it could be more serious on yours such as a bad connection under the CPU/RAM/Flash/GPU/etc. If it is like any other BGA fix, you could try applying heat to your Axim motherboard (remove all plastic parts and the screen first!)...first just take a hair dryer or craft heat gun and blow hot air over the board, do this in quick sweeps, don't hold the heat on a single component, keep moving the heat around the board (especially if you're using a high temperature heat gun, it will destroy components if you hold it on them but sweeping will help the solder connections). See if that helps, it is a common fix for the broken connections on the Xbox 360 and the Axim uses the same type of connections (BGA - Ball Grid Array) to connect the main chips to the board.
yes i checked all connections with a special magnifier and clean them. I see no bad soldering, but it could be that i must look with a Microskope to see a cold soldering ;-)
But i think the tape between the shielding housing from CPU and LCD bracket was a good Idea. Maybe it comes together and gives a potential difference from current.
Thats anyone's guess, i know. Its a strange but nice Machine.
Yesterday i play around with Win Mobile 6.5 and SK Tools Benchmarks.
The Axim runs several Hours with good Results with no errors or stuckings.
Then today it fails with Tom Tom.
Another notice is, that the Batterie was hotter when the Axim hang up.
Maybe parasitic oscillations?
When in Cradle and the Batterie was loading it was only Hand warm.
And the Axim stucks very gladly when BlueTooth is powered on or the graphic machine must scrolling a map or other graphic elements.
Just now the Axim runs one hour with english rom 12, BT on, Qstarz GPS and GPS Tuner on 4GB SDHC Card without freezing.
With a craft Air heater better i do nothing on the Board. Its to risky for me.
