X51v Screen very dark, What needs replacement?

Hi all, I am very new to PDA hardware. I have an x51v that i use as a golf gps. I was playing one day and got a little rain water on the unit. Ever since then the screen has been very dark. You can still see the outline of everything but a light source has to hit it just right. Everything else seems to work...i can still use the touch screen and run apps, just can't see anything unless i hold a light to the screen. Can anyone tell me what parts need to be replaced?

Thanks,

Jordan

First thing to check is that you haven't accidentally turned the brightness down.

Start/settings/system/backlight

I don't see backlight...did you mean brightness? If so that looks to be set on full brightness. Also, maybe my first description was poor. Now that I look at it inside it's a little different. When you look at the screen straight on, it looks white/gray. But you can see the outline of the items on the screen when you look at an angle. However the colors are all funky.

As Box said, the backlight is not on. From the outside of the case it can be adjusted with the brightness setting, but it can also be turned off and on by a long press on the on/off button. That button has two functions: a quick click is on/off of the entire unit, a long press is on/off of the backlight. You can try that to see if it will come back. If that fails to turn it on, you'll have to consider taking it apart to see if a connection has come loose.

Did you try diagnostic mode to see if it passes?
