PPCTechs has a repair for 159 USD. I guess it is cheaper than getting a new x51v (Considering it is discontinued, it is really hard to come by a good x51v)
I had a friend send his x50v to PPCTechs, it is a trustworthy company.

I agree this sounds like a hardware problem. I ran into something similar when I was trying to see if there was a problem with my dock connector. Unfortunatly I broke the bracket that held the ribbon cable for my screen, I managed to take a small piece of folded up paper and jam it in the connector with the ribbon cable and that fixed the problem. Dock connector still won't work though. I have to take the battery out and charge it that way. The soldier joints in the dock its self broke loose some time ago and for a while I was using the car adaptor, but after a while that quit working too, that maybe what (I assume) broke the connector in my Axim. I haven't used it in a while, and haven't even thought about fixing it due to lack of money. I could just buy a 2nd battery for it that way I don't drain the backup battery while waiting for the normal battery to charge.
How ever, I hate to admit it, but I'm going to get the LG Incite soon. I saw it a month or so ago on Cingular...err ATT's site $79 with 2year contract, but since I already am with ATT it comes down to around $30, and if I get the referbished version I saw it once for $10 and I think once even free(although thats all after rebates and what not). Two things I think I'll miss from my x50v, is the IR port and the proccessor speed. The incite I believe is somewhere between 500 and 600mhz. I didn't use the IR port much but it is sort of neat when you have the Universal remote programs :)
