x51 power button not working

My x51 power button suddenly stopped working. When I put into the sinc line to the computer, it show a solid orange line. but I still can't push the power button and the unit turn on. I have tried the following:

Reset button on back.

Opening the battery cover.

locking and unlocking the screen

Still no ability to power the unit up.

Is there not other way to power this up without doing a hard reset and having to reinstall all programs?

I would like to avoid this if possible.

You say you opened the battery cover, but did you actually take the battery out?

And you mention locking and unlocking the screen, do you mean the hardware lock switch?
Sometimes the switch itself fails, make sure it is working properly when you move it.

It is also possible that it is so low on power that it won't start.

Yes, I didn't take the battery out. I thought this might trigger the screen message that the battery door was open.

Also, the unit shows being fully charged (Solid Green Light). So, not low on power.

The lock switch is the one on the left side of the unit. that locks the button and screen, so nothing gets accidently pressed when in the case or otherwise.

The Computer that is linked to this is also giving the msg. New hardware not recognized.

Take the battery out for a couple of hours, or even a few minutes and try again.
