Question Weird Battery Meter Problem on x50v

Basic info:
Axim x50v
Lenny's A09, pretty fresh, no programs (Reflashed a few days ago)
Tried hard reset already...
Tried another ROM

I just noticed this problem as my x50v suddenly turned off while installing a new program.

I have two standard (New, no problem, 1100mAh) batteries. We shall call them Battery A and Battery B.

Once my Battery A is critically low (It does the 10 second auto shutdown), I switched a freshly charged (100% or so) to my x50v. It does not recognize the fresh battery and still does the auto shutdown. So basically, the battery meter remembers my last battery level.

I can repeat the result with a low (15%) Battery A. Once I switched it with a fresh Battery B, it still display 15%. The weird part is that the battery meter does not decrease until my Battery B has hit the 15% mark. So I really don't know the true percentage of my battery.

The only workaround is to charge my x50v on a cradle until it is above 20% or so and switch out to Battery B. But the battery meter still does not decrease until I hit that 20% or so mark...

The does not happen on my WM5 A12 x51v...

What happens if you swap batteries and then soft reset?

Here is another weird observation:
If my battery meter on my x50v shows a low reading say 9% and I take out the battery for 5 seconds and put it back again the meter shows a much higher level, maybe 45% - and it seems to be real :scratch_h

Sorry johnhu, I don't want to hijack your thread but just show another weird behavior of the battery meter :o

JakeRich, same thing happens. I get it to 10 second auto-shutdown. Switch to Battery B, and reboot. Same 10 second auto-shutdown.

If I get it to battery low (15%), same thing.

Zan, that's a similar problem. That' a misbehaving battery meter. Mine simply doesn't work. And I don't have a cradle with me while my Axim is in my pocket. It basically renders my Ax to one battery life (Extra batteries are useless if I forget the switch batteries before the 10-second shutdown)
