not sure if this is the right place to ask I see no other section witin forum to ask this- writing this from my axim at the moment on my bed- should really be sleeping now.
my axim is a bit bright to be used as ereader; wonder if there's a way to reduce backlight further such thar it looks like sony ereader pr505. i also hoping to get a bigger screen while reading. do you know of any screen add on I can plug in for this purpose - a stowaway keyboard equivalent but this time for reading instead of for typing?

There are many occasions where the minimum brightness setting available on the Axim series is too bright.
As the OP said, reading in bed,
using it as a star chart,
navigation at night etc etc
There have been many posts over the years about this problem.
Some people have come up with very innovative solutions.
One that springs to mind, red plastic film as a screen protector.

I thought minimum was the absolute lowest you can go. There is not below the minimum.

if you want to switch ereaders, try this ereader. it allows you to switch the screen from white with black letters to black screen with white letters.
it is called allreader. it also supports a lot of book format versions, quote from link below.
AllReader+ supports TXT, HTML, RTF, FB2, DOC, DOCX, ODT, SXW, ABW, ZABW, CHM, PDB/PRC (PalmDOC, zTXT mode 1) and TCR formats. AllReader+: Powerful Reading Tool :: Windows Mobile Pocket PC :: Products
I can confirm the applet contrast thing works on axim x51v wm6 makuu version. thanks for the many good suggestions. now is there any way to get a bigger reading screen. just received my sony pr505. don't like it as really slow to scroll through my book collections. can't beat my axim..
