Need a new battery

Mine 4 years old and is bulging and making the battery door open up at inconvenient times (not like it's ever a convenient time for the door to open on it's own).

Where is a reliable source for a new battery? Please, nobody mention ebay.

Great. Well, I'm state-side. So I probably won't be ordering one from anywhere with a name that ends in ".uk". But thanks anyway for the response. :)

cases.com and ppctechs both sell replacement batteries; both have supported mobilitysite and aximsite for some time, and the feedback has been good for both. I haven't gotten batteries from them, but have been pleased with their service when I ordered other items from them. I'd be inclined to turn to them for their offerings.

PPCTechs sells batteries? I wasn't aware. I got the RAM upgrade for my Axim from them a while back. Their service was stellar. And everyone I spoke to there was sweeter than soda pop. They let me speak to the techs who were working on my Axim. They helped me through the emotion time of not only being without my PPC for a week but also sending it through the mail to have some unknown people open it up and tinker with it. I'll be sure to give them a call. Thanks.

Just checked their site; looks like they have some at close-out prices. Hmm, I think I'll go back to their site a shop a little!

Could you point me to them? All I could find is a 30$ replacement and a 50$ extended battery.

I think those are the very ones; I guess $10 off is "hot deal." Not a bad discount, really...

So you're telling me that I'm looking at $30 for a regular battery? I'm spoiled. The only other Axim batteries I bought were from Ebay. They are big jazzy extended things that I paid about $10 a piece for. And they have stood the test of 3 years so I didn't get duds. Oh well. I guess $30 it is then.

I thought you said not to mention ebay?

Have you searched the old forums here? There are a few threads with replacement battery recommendations--I think some others have found a few bargains elsewhere. I tend to be cautious and go with the trusted sites.

I looked on Amazon, a lot are replacement models. Personally, I used to stockpile my batteries from Dell.com. I think they work better than the models sold on Amazon. Of course, Axims are now discontinued...

I've bought both of the batteries in my post and have never had a problem. Both have Dell labels on them. I assume they bought out Dell's stock when they quit making the AX. :)

I went ahead and ordered battery replacements from PPCTechs and had great service from their ordering department. My old battery was bulging and ready for replacement. I think the new one is working much better than the run time I've had lately. Nice!
