Dead as a door nail

So when my new backup battery arrived for my Axim X5, using my stylus I unlocked and slid off the back to verify the battery that had arrived looked like the one inside. It didn't, so I put the back back, and low and behold I have in my hands a completely non-functioning charming silver hand grenade. I just got it and have no backups. When I put in the cradle, nothing happens. But the battery appears to be charging when I plug in the wall charger. What the heck happened?

If the main and backup battery are completely drained it will require some charging before it will fire up again.
Give it an hour or so on the AC and see if it starts then.

BTW USB power isn't normally enough to charge a fully drained battery.

Thanks Box, but I have plugged the unit in overnight using the wall plug, not the USB. And both batteries were fully charged when I stupidly removed the backing. I just plugged it in again and the little light went from red to green in less than 5 minutes. So it thinks it's charged. But I can't seem to get it to turn on, and putting it in the cradle it is not able to connect to the desktop. Boo hoo, I love my little Axim.

A couple of things to try.

Make sure the battery cover is on properly, both the main and the backup.

Try removing the main battery for a few minutes and then put it back.

I assume the X5 has a soft reset button, usually a small hole in the back that you push the tip of the stylus into to push the reset button.

Just checking, you say it's an X5 but you have posted in the X51 forum, It is an X5?

Oops, my bad, I did post in the wrong forum, I didn't scroll below the x3 to find x5 -- but I really do have an x5, not an x51 -- thanks for your help.
