How to charge a new battery

I work with a x51, but my craddle don´t have the rear space for charging a new battery (I buyed it in Boxwave). When I see the battery status I can see the status of the main battery,(80,90,100) but nothing about the backup battery. I´m the doubt if I can charge a new battery in the machine but I´m afraid for loosing all the data.Of course I have made a complete backup in the SD card and in the PC.
Would be necessary to buy e new craddle or a charger battery?I hope some help.
Thanks a lot

The X51 series have persistent memory, so even if your device goes flat while changing to the new battery, all you will lose is the date and time.

Just swap it over and plug it in to the AC and let it charge overnight before using it.

It may not charge, or charge very slowly, if you are only using USB power

The X51 series (only) imployes a capacitor for backup - not a battery (which is contained in all previous Axims models)

In contrast to a battery a capacitor is charged almost instantaneously.

If you have defect capacitor in a X51(v) the system time will reset when you change the main battery - as already stated by Box :o

I thought everyone's capacitor is dead by now.
Mine doesn't hold a charge anymore.

When you say "backup battery", are you talking about the internal capacitor backup or the new battery?
